Rancho Cordova International Festival Set

Rancho Cordova, CA – Travel the world without leaving Rancho Cordova during the Inaugural Rancho Cordova International Festival on Saturday, May 17.

The sounds, tastes and cultures of the world will be celebrated along with the opening of a new Rancho Cordova park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Village Green Park, 3141 Bridgeview Drive in the Capital Village neighborhood. Admission is free of charge.

Presented by Leadership Rancho Cordova and the Cordova Recreation and Park District, the International Festival embraces the rich cultural fabric that is Rancho Cordova and will include music and dance from around the globe. Vendors will be on hand selling foods reflecting a wide range of ethnic heritage.

Among the nine featured performers will be Dragon Dancers, a mariachi band, Ukrainian Bandura players, and drummers and dancers from around the world.

The event will also celebrate the opening of The Village Green Park, the largest of three new parks that will be opened in the Capital Village neighborhood.

The park features an amphitheatre and water spray feature and is marked by a soaring tower, which serves as the Capital Village landmark.

Park dedication ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. and includes free ice cream.

Following the dedication, Leadership Rancho Cordova will help park visitors set sail on an around-the-world tour that will include music and dance performances of the many cultures that have made Rancho Cordova home.

Entertainment will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., with vendors selling international foods along the park’s central walkway.

The event is the class project of Leadership Rancho Cordova, a venture of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce to build a cadre of leaders prepared to propel the city into the future. The Leadership program is now in its second year.

Leadership Rancho Cordova class members, representing a diverse group of Rancho Cordova residents, business and government participants, have been studying key elements of the community from government and development issues to local history and public safety topics.
