White Rock Tile Event

Community Tile Painting Event at White Rock Park

The Cordova Recreation and Park District invites all community members to create a piece of history for the new White Rock Park. As construction work nears completion, the District will host a tile painting event that gives the public the opportunity to design and paint a colorful tile. These pieces will become a permanent part of a mosaic wall to be enjoyed for generations to come. The event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at White Rock Park. The District is partnering with ceramic studio Color Me Mine to supply the tile, painting materials, and firing. Refreshments will also be provided. Pre-registration is required for this event. PSA - Park District gives new life to closed school

Folsom Cordova Unified School District recently faced the closure of two of their Elementary schools in Rancho Cordova. Rather than let the facility sit idle, Cordova Recreation and Park District approached the school district about allowing the use of the space for community events and classes. A low cost, 25 year lease has been negotiated, allowing both agencies to walk away with a win; the Folsom Cordova Unified School District will not have an empty building to attract vandalism and theft, and Cordova Recreation and Park District gains some much needed space to expand recreation programming.
