The Cordova Recreation and Park District invites all community members to create a piece of history for the new White Rock Park. As construction work nears completion, the District will host a tile painting event that gives the public the opportunity to design and paint a colorful tile. These pieces will become a permanent part of a mosaic wall to be enjoyed for generations to come. The event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at White Rock Park. The District is partnering with ceramic studio Color Me Mine to supply the tile, painting materials, and firing. Refreshments will also be provided. Pre-registration is required for this event. Tiles for children (ages 12 and under) may be purchased for $10. Scholarships are available. Tiles for adults cost $18 and tiles for businesses or organizations may be purchased for $100. Bring your receipt to the event to redeem your tile. Tiles are limited and will be sold while supplies last. This will be a fun-filled, creative event, so wear clothing that can get a little messy. Do not miss your chance to truly be a part of the new White Rock Park.
